How does it work
Power-Stats Backend will provide a piece of code (code snippet) that must be inserted in every page to be tracked.
With every visit to the page with the code snippet inserted, Power-Stats will record visitor information like
Date & Time
IP address of the visitor machine
Operating System
Language
Page visited
Screen Resolution and more
This data is compiled and presented into comprehensive graphic reports that provide valuable information.
Full version of Power-Stats can also be used in a multi-site environment tracking in real time unlimited sites and providing private logins to every site owner.
Installing the software
Choose a main folder
in your web server, and use any FTP program to copy the scripts maintaining
inner folder structure.
db: this is the
database folder if you are going to use MS-Access. This folder needs all
permissions defined for Internet anonymous user. Your hosting service Control
Panel should have an option to define folder permissions. If you are using your
own server, make sure that all permissions are defined over this folder. If you
are going to use a different folder name or location for database folder you
must change the connection string in the includes/settings.asp file.

db: Used to store the database in case of access,
this folder can be any folder with Write permissions. If you will use any
other folder than db then you must
change the connection string in the
includes/settings.asp script.
backend: All report scripts are stored in this folder.
graphicFunctions: Flash graphic chart files and implementation
functions
help: Help files on how to use the software.
images: Images used in the application's front end
includes: Functions used by the program and general includes.
tracking: Scripts for tracking
websites and generating log for reports are located here. |

By default, Power-Stats is configured to use Access with the database file located into /db folder. If you have to change database location or use mySQL, use a text editor to open includes/settings.asp script and change the following lines
Set database type
'Set database type to be used options are: "access", "sqlserver",
"mysql"
pDataBase = "access"
Change /db/ for any other folder, for example /database/
For access database:
' DSN less connection
pDatabaseConnectionString = "Driver={Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb)};DBQ=" &server.MapPath("/db/powerStats.mdb")&";"
Change /db/ for any other for example /database/ just indicate the software
were the database is located.
For mySQL database:
pDatabaseConnectionString = "Driver={MySQL ODBC 3.51 Driver};Server=localhost;database=powerstats;user=root;password="
Change localhost by the IP of your mySQL Server and insert user and password.
Final step
Finally, upload the settings.asp file to your web server.
Login to the Backend
If the application is well installed and configured you can open your web browser and visit http://www.yoursite.com/power-stats/backend
In this screen you have to enter user=admin, password=123456
Note: change default password for security purposes
If you cannot login or if you receive an error message, you should check database location and
database connection
strings.
Change settings
Click on settings in the main control panel, and change pInstallationURL
this will tell the software where to locate the tracking scripts in order to
create a code snippet to be inserted in the website to be tracked.
By default you will see http://www.YourSite.com/power-stats
If you have not changed anything in the folder structure then you only need to
change "YourSite.com" by the real host name of it.
You can also set email options if for any reason the software encounter an
error it will advice the administrator by sending an email.
Getting
and Inserting Tracking code snippet
In Management menu you can find a link named Get Code, click there, then copy & paste the code shown in the text area.
Open web pages to track, like index.html, with a text editor and paste the code at the bottom (before </html> tag)
Testing the tracking procedure
Upload the web page with the tracking code inserted to your web site and load the page with the browser (http://www.yoursite.com/index.html)
Then login to the Backend and click on “Last 200 Views RAW”
You should find the details about your recent visit. Your own IP will be shown
in the last column.
You can repeat the procedure to insert the code snippet in all other pages to track,
or use a common page within your site to paste the code just once and be
inserted in all pages that includes the shared file, usually footer.html
or .asp or .php. The website must have inserted the code snippet only once in
all pages.
Report Types
Power-Stats provides several reports divided in categories
Traffic reports:
Here you can find raw log report (plain data stored into the database), Page Views, Page Visits (unique views), Views and Visits combined, Most requested pages and Entry pages (first pages visited in your site)
Marketing reports:
Here you can find Search Engines report (Power-Stats recognize visits that came from main Search Engines), Search Keywords (search keywords entered by visitors), Top Referrers (from which sites and specific pages came your visitors), Languages (visits grouped by visitor language)
System reports:
Here you can find Operative System report (which OS are using your visitors), Screen Resolutions, Color Depht and Browser Types

Here are the basic reports, all of them can be filtered by a criteria for
example you want to look the unique visitors for English language, just add that
language to the filter and all this web statistics reports will be filtered by
language criteria.
Filtering information feature will give you the power of going deep in
website traffic analysis, by focus the point of view in each individual point
of your search engine optimization process.

Page views,

This web statistics report displays the amount of page views in a defined period
of time, grouped by a defined time frame: day, week, month, quarter, year
and hour
Unique visits, web statistics report
This web statistics report displays the amount of unique visitors in a defined
period of time, grouped by a defined time frame: day, week, month, quarter, year
and hour
Unique visits combined with page views, web statistics report
This web statistics report displays the amount of unique visitors and the amount
of page views, also calculate Views/Visits measuring click per user, in a
defined period of time, grouped by a defined time frame: day, week, month, quarter, year
and hour
Most requested pages, web statistics report
This web statistics report displays the amount page views, divided by most
requested pages of the site, within in a
defined time frame: day, month, year
Search engines, web statistics report
This web statistics report displays the amount page views, divided by search
engines used to find the site, within in a
defined time frame: day, month, year
Search keywords, web statistics report
This web statistics report displays the amount page views, divided by keyword
used by the site's visitors to find the site, within in a

Filter Information advanced reporting feature
Concept
Individual and combined parameter filtering will give you the power of going
deeper in search engine optimization and keyword marketing strategies. Look
reports individualized by WourkingURL, referrer, search engines, keywords and
languages, or any combinations of them.
All filter parameters works with AND logic
WorkingURL
A URL in the website, www.my-site.com/blue-shoes.htm
or index.htm or any other... By filtering with this parameter each URL can be
watched as a whole thing, unique visitors report, search engines, search
keywords, languages... can be individually analyzed.
Referrer
A URL where a user is coming from can be external or internal to your
host.
Search Engine
Displays all users coming from the specified search engine
Search Keywords
Displays all users coming from the specified search keywords
Language
User's language, by filtering with this parameter, demographic data can be
analyzed
Once the filter is applied all reports shows the information as usual
filtered by the mentioned criteria, this functionality can be used to answer
questions like this:
How many users are coming from "Google", AND using the keyword
"blue shoes", AND their language is "English".
After setting the parameter in the filter go trough the reports and watch
them one by one to find new information about how the users are coming and going
through the website.
How does work the last search engine optimization on my website over the keyword
"blue shoes" ?
Just enter "blue shoes" in the search keyword field in the filter
and go to unique visits reports it will show the progress of the search engine
optimization applied.
Then add a search engine to the filter, for example "Google" and
watch again the reports now filtered by "blue shoes" AND "Google".
And so on...
